Grammer Philosophy

HAAAAAAAA grammer I only study it for the SAT. Lets get a bit more pragmatic, I suck at grammer, thats why I need to study grammer. Like my Elliot Hulse model, this is something that makes me uncomfortable, so I am a failure at it. So what do I need to do. I keeping doing it over and over again, failing myriad times until I reach the point of understanding. That is what I hope to achieve through these oh so challenging tiers. Like everything else I also have a goal with this, and that is to do extremely well on the SAT and I have a good feeling learning grammer is going help me a lot. Crumble or Conquer.

August 29th Reflection:

I never knew stuff like object preposition and direct objects existed. I thought grammar was a complicated subject already and all these new terms boggle my mind even further. I learned new ways of organizing my parts of speech better with symbols like a box and circle because before it was just labelling it with words. Which gets messy and unproductive at a point. I learned what a pro noun was today, and also learn that a name is also a pro noun. I was introduced to the new concept of the app (forget what its called) but these filler details that complement my subject and predicate, stuff that describes Mr. Pangier (he is a new teacher). I quite do not understand why it is difficult to understand a reading with too many app’s because that just describes our person even better and should be better for our understanding of the subject (Mr. Pangier)

Sept. 2 Reflection

I learned about 3 concepts that I knew nothing about, the special parts of speech. Gerunds, participles, infinitives. Grammer too me is a very big challenge right now espicially with my lack of knowledge with this subject. As anything that is challenging, it's constant repitition and hard work that will get you there . I wish we had a day where we can just look at every single little function and part of speech on the system and walk through it and talk out it in class before we even started this to make sure everybody had atleast some base knowledge. I do appreciate that I am learning things by failure but there is some knowledge behind things I do, right now I am just a blind indivisual.

Sept. 9 Reflection

I was exposed to an new type of special part of speech today. The gerund, I still do not see the difference between this and a participle. I finally knew the difference between a pronoun and a proper noun today today, pro nouns for all the Is, hes, shes and etc... and proper noun is for certain poeple, places or thing. My grammer is still not on the bright side, I really think  I should have daily grammer on the same concept rather for awhile until I master it, than snipets every week that get harder and harder. On the bright side I am learning new terms in grammer, but it is going to take a long time before I fully grasp this. Day 2 got a couple more to go, I like how Mr.Pangier makes us stand up, because you do not want to be the only one standing you struggle to find a word quickly. Then it does have a bad side because some people just pick an easy thing first and get it over with quick and not pay attention for the rest of the class.

Reflection:

Never have I ever broke down a phrase like this, a quote espicially. I started from the bottom with my understanding, the only thing I can say with confidence is the direct object and I tried so hard to find one and I did, then I was upset to find out there was none. The appositives is somehting I am sure about because it was defined to me simply. I known everything is up on the internet and we should look it up, but having a teacher their and lecturing you and guiding you is better because I am always turned down because I interperet these grammer funcitons wrong in the internet and come to the class with the wrong conceptions. My definition of an indirect and direct object is obscured. I think we need to talk in class about it because when I saw it is direct or indirect with logical reason someone smarter than me at this just shows me how much of an idiot I am.

Reflection:

I knew that you have a double predicate before to make a complex sentence, but never did I think you could have two subjects in a sentence simulteonously. I also finally learned the definition of a prepositional phrase. How it gives position to something, time, position in space, phase, etc. . .  It was just some technical term I could never comprehend. This sentence really helped me realize the infinitives better with the example of "erupting" which is a verb, but I clearly see that it gave up its function and is now is discribing the volcano.  Now my sense of vocabulary has enlarged, and I do confidently understand it to about 60%. I hope to do more sentences in the future and just ace this fool.
